THE ELIZABETHTOWN CITY COUNCIL VOTED TO PURCHASE A LOCAL BUSINESS THIS WEEK. THE COUNCIL APPROVED A MOTION TO ACQUIRE THE COBBLER’S CAFE DURING YESTERDAY’S MEETING. ACCORDING TO THE ORDINANCE, THE SALE IS FOR THE ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AND REDEVELOPMENT OF DOWNTOWN ELIZABETHTOWN. IN ADDITION, THE PURCHASE OF THE PROPERTY IS NOT TO EXCEED 212 THOUSAND DOLLARS. MORE DETAILS ARE EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED THIS MORNING.

A MURDER TRIAL SET TO BEGIN YESTERDAY ENDED IN A PLEA DEAL. CHARLES ROBERSON JR PLEAD GUILTY IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF XEDRIC (ZEE-DRICK) MCNEIL LATE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. ROBERSON TOOK AN AMENDED PLEA OF FIRST DEGREE MANSLAUGHTER AND RECEIVED AN 18 YEAR SENTENCE. THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE ON DIECKS DRIVE LAST FEBRUARY BEFORE ROBERSON FLED THE SCENE AND WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY SEVERAL DAYS LATER. NO OTHER DETAILS HAVE BEEN RELEASED AT THIS TIME.

AN ELIZABETHTOWN MAN WAS CHARGED AFTER AN INCIDENT OVER THE WEEKEND. ACCORDING TO ARREST RECORDS, CHRISTINO COLON WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER OFFICIALS RESPONDED TO A HOME ON REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED. UPON THEIR ARRIVAL OFFICERS SAY COLON HAD FIRED AN ENTIRE MAGAZINE OF BULLETS NEAR NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS AT THE HOME. COLON WAS CHARGED WITH WANTON ENDANGERMENT AND HELD IN THE HARDIN COUNTY DETENTION CENTER.
